Skijoring in the Almaguin Highlands and Muskoka. A Great Winter Activity

I went to the Kearney Dog Sled Races this year in February and I enjoyed watching skijoring for the first time.  It was amazing to see how many people participated in this race.  It is great to see that dog owners can enjoy a fun sport with their dogs.  I can really see this sport become popular for couples and families with pets.  The whole family can get out for a fun activity and the dogs don't get left behind.

I also read an article on March 19th in the Weekender Newspaper about skijoring.  Arrowhead Provincial Park offers loads of winter activities to include skating, tubing, cross country skiing, ski skating and now skijoring.  I don't think you would be able to rent a dog but I am sure you may be able to rent skis from them.  The owner can bring their harness to put around their waist, bring their dog and off they go on some fantastic trails throughout the park.  For fun things to do in the Almaguin Highlands and Muskoka visit Almaguin Vacation and for a nearby Ontario cottage rental visit Sand Lake Cottages & Inn
